Fritzshe, Hellmut

Fritzshe, Hellmut (1927- )

German-born physicist, who made major a contribution to the study of the electronic and optical properties of amorphous and crystalline semiconductors and metals. Born in Berlin, Germany, he moved to the USA in 1952, and taught at Purdue (1955-57) before joining the University of Chicago in 1957. He also worked as an adviser for the Encyclopaedia Britannica.
