| Until very recently, emphasis on the low "man-land" ratio in early America, exemplified most famously by the frontier theory of Frederick Jackson Turner, coincided with an optimistic evaluation of the environmental conditions underlying that experience. Similarly, the frontier theory (immigrants mixing in wide open spaces made us) fails to account for the different character of other countries that also had immigrants and large frontiers. By using the Efficient Frontier theory of investment, it allows companies to identify reward versus risk for their portfolios. |
