Frosinone

Capital of Frosinone province, in Lazio region, west-central Italy, situated on a hill 77 km/48 mi east of Rome; population (1991) 45,800. It has an established wine trade; development since 1965 has given rise to engineering, textiles, and plastics industries. The Romanesque cathedral was rebuilt after World War II. The new port of the town has spread over the plain of the River Sacco.
