Frost, David Paradine (1939– )| English broadcaster who fronted the radical BBC satirical show, That Was The Week That Was (1962–64). He went on to present The Frost Report (1966), Frost Over England, and the Frost Programme (both 1967). He became known for his skill as a tough interrogator, and he has worked on both UK and US television as a political interviewer, chat-show host, and presenter. He has presented the BBC's Breakfast with Frost programme since 1992. |
| Frost has interviewed world leaders in such programmes as The Nixon Interviews (1976–77) and The Shah Speaks (1980). A co-founder of London Weekend Television, in 1983 he was a co-founder, director, and presenter of the UK's TV-AM. His many international honours include the Golden Rose of Montreux (1967) and two Emmy Awards (1970, 1971). His publications include How to Live Under Labour (1964), I Gave Them a Sword (1978), The World's Shortest Books (1987), and the first volume of his memoirs David Frost: An Autobiography, Part I – From Congregations to Audiences (1993). |
| In the USA, his 1991–93 series on PBS Talking with David Frost featured such varied guests as Andrew Lloyd Weber, General Norman Schwarzkopf, Robin Williams, Margaret Thatcher, Isaac Stern, Reverend Billy Graham, Nelson Mandela, Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, and PLO chairman Yassir Arafat. He was knighted in 1993. |
