Fruton, Joseph S(tewart) (1912– )| Polish-born US biochemist, who made major advances in studies of proteolytic enzymes, and has written and lectured extensively on the history of science. Born in Czestochowa, Poland, he emigrated to the USA in 1923, and became an assistant in biochemistry at Columbia University (1933–34). He moved to Rockefeller University (1934–45), then joined Yale (1945–82). |
