Fuchs, Robert (1847–1927)

Austrian composer. He was professor at the Vienna Conservatory 1875–1912, where Mahler, Hugo Wolf, Alexander von Zemlinsky, and Franz Schreker were among his pupils. His serenades are still sometimes performed in Germany.

Works

two operas, Die Königsbraut (1889) and Die Teufelsglocke (1893); Mass; symphony in C major, five serenades (four for strings); piano concerto; chamber music.
