Intelsat is providing capacity on the IS-901 satellite located at 342 degrees E; Telespazio (Finmeccanica/Alcatel Company) is providing Internet backbone connectivity and managing operations from its teleport in Fucino, Italy; and Hughes is supplying the recently launched HN7000S product platform with DVB-S2 including a NOC (Network Operations Center) and broadband satellite routers, plus related services. In combination with Telespazio's Fucino teleport, Intelsat's satellite system, Riverside teleport facility in California and fiber-optic cable interconnections are creating a truly global communications solution for Saipem. Through the satellite gateway at the Fucino Space Center in Italy, Telespazio routes the GSM traffic from the satellite maritime network to TIM's public GSM network, ensuring availability during oceanic navigation. |
