| In the indecisive battle 3–5 May 1811 between the British and French at Fuentes d'Onoro on the Spanish/Portuguese border 25 km/15 mi west of Ciudad Rodrigo. The Duke of Wellington, reputedly said that had Napoleon Bonaparte been there ‘we would have been damnably licked’. |
