Fujita, Tetsuya or Theodore (1920– )

Japanese-born US meteorologist. He examined how severe local storms could be forecast using satellites and aerial photography, and theorized the wind shear phenomenon called the microburst. From 1953 he taught and researched at the University of Chicago. Born in Kitakyushu City, Japan, he became a US citizen in 1968.
