Fullerton

City in Orange County, southwest California; population (1990) 114,100. It is located 32 km/20 mi southeast of Los Angeles. Local industries produce aerospace and electronic equipment. The city is also a commercial and residential centre. It is home to a California State University campus (1957) and the Pacific Christian College (1928). The city was founded in 1887, as railways reached the area. Oil was first drilled here in the 1890s, and the region was also a major citrus, walnut, avocado, and field crop producer. In the 1950s the Santa Ana Freeway brought large-scale development.

Allen, who owned the chief of the property about Fullerton, the village in Wiltshire where the Morlands lived, was ordered to Bath for the benefit of a gouty constitution -- and his lady, a good-humoured woman, fond of Miss Morland, and probably aware that if adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad, invited her to go with them.
