Chlamydophila psittaci was detected in 10% of 431 fulmars examined from the Faroe Islands. Some 10,000 pairs of medium-size o seabirds called northern fulmars (Fulmarus glacialis) nest in a widespread colony on Devon Island 640 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. The media campaign also focused on the findings of a study which revealed that 96 percent of dead North Sea fulmars had plastic in their stomachs. |
