Fuchsia flowers are bell-like and hang downwards. The flowers attract honey bees and the fruits are eaten by birds.

Any shrub or herbaceous plant of a group belonging to the evening-primrose family. Species are native to South and Central America and New Zealand, and bear red, purple, or pink bell-shaped flowers that hang downwards. (Genus Fuchsia, family Onagraceae.)

The genus was named in 1703 after German botanist Leonhard Fuchs (1501–1566).
