Göta
| River in southern Sweden; length 109 km/67 mi. It flows from Lake Vänern to the Kattegat strait, which separates Denmark from Sweden. The river divides at the town of Kungälv, the southern branch passing Göteborg. It is navigable; the Trollhättan Canal was constructed to avoid the Trollhätta Falls near the river's source. |
