Gaburo, Kenneth (1926–1993)

US composer. He studied at the Eastman School and with Goffredo Petrassi in Rome. He was a professor at the University of Illinois 1955–68 and at San Diego 1968–75. He founded and directed the Studio for Cognitive Studies at San Diego 1975–83; his music was concerned with extending verbal limits within composition, and frequently employed electronics, as in his series of Antiphonies I–X (1958–89).

Orchestral

Shapes and Sounds (1960), A Dot is no Small Thing (1984), both for orchestra.
