GalahadIn Arthurian legend, one of the knights of the Round Table. His virtue allowed him to succeed in the quest for the Holy Grail, and he died in ecstasy, having seen its mystery. He was the son of Lancelot of the Lake and Elaine, daughter of the Fisher King, whom Lancelot believed to be his beloved Guinevere. Galahad first appeared in the 13th-century Queste del Saint Graal in the Vulgate Cycle of Arthurian romances, replacing the older and traditional hero Percival in the quest. A virgin knight, he may have been created to fulfil a saviour's role, being a model of purity and ideal knighthood, both chivalrous and religious. How to thank TFD for its existence?
