Gamaliel (died AD 52)

Palestinian rabbi, the grandson of Hillel, and president of the Sanhedrin (ancient supreme court in Jerusalem). Tolerant, peaceful, and broadminded, he defended the apostles Peter and John (Acts 5:34).
