Gardner, Alexander (1821–1882)| Scottish photographer. A technical innovator, he also managed Mathew Brady's studio in Washington, DC, for several years (1856–63). When Brady refused to give photo credits to his war photographers, he left to take documentary photographs and run his own studio (1863–82). He was born in Paisley, Scotland. |
