    0.02 sec.

Garfunkel, Art(hur) Ira (1942– )

US singer. With Paul Simon he formed the folk-rock duo Simon and Garfunkel, and had such hits as ‘Mrs Robinson’ (1968) and ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ (1970). Never as successful as Simon in his solo music career, Garfunkel's solo albums include Lefty (1988), Songs From a Parent to a Child (1997), and Everything Waits to Be Noticed (2002).

Awards shared with Paul Simon include six Grammy awards in 1970, and in 1977 the Britannia Music Award for the best single in 25 years of pop history for ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’. The duo were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the USA in 1990. Garfunkel pursued a solo career after the duo split in 1970, releasing Angel Clare in 1973 and Watermark (1977), a collection of Jimmy Webb covers. He has also appeared in several films, including Catch 22 (1970) and Boxing Helena (1992).
