Garnett

Town and administrative headquarters of Anderson County, east Kansas; population (1990) 3,200. It is located 35 km/22 mi south of Ottawa. Founded in 1856, it is a processing and shipping centre for flour, livestock, dairy products, and oil. The poet Edgar Lee Masters was born here in 1869.
