Garrison

Residential town in Baltimore County, north Maryland; population (1990) 5,000. It is located 18 km/11 mi northwest of Baltimore. Fort Garrison, the oldest standing fort in Maryland, was erected in 1695 as a refuge against American Indian attacks. Once surrounded by wilderness, the fort now stands amid suburban housing developments.
