Gasdia, Cecilia (1960– )

Italian soprano. She made her debut in Florence, in 1982, as Bellini's Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi/The Capulets and Montagues) and appeared at La Scala from 1982 as Anna Bolena and Elena in Rossini's La Donna del lago/The Lady of the Lake. Her Paris Opéra debut was in 1983, as Anais in Rossini's Moïse, and her US debut was in Philadelphia, in 1984, as Gilda. She sang at the New York Metropolitan Opera House in 1986 as Gounod's Juliette, and was Nedda in Pagliacci at the Verona Arena in 1993. Her other roles include Verdi's Hélène, in Jerusalem, Violetta, and Mimi, and her recordings include Rossini's Armida (in which she sang the title role).
