Gelsted, Otto

    0.10 sec.

Gelsted, Otto (1888-1969)

Danish poet. He was a rationalist, and in his verse nature stands for the purity and clarity he was seeking. His later poems demonstrate a political awareness and a desire for human fellowship strengthened by the threatening atmosphere of the 1930s, the German occupation (during which he fled to Sweden), and his own development towards Marxism (Under Uvejret 1934 and Emigrantdigte 1945).
