George VI (1895–1952)

King of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from 1936, when he succeeded after the abdication of his brother Edward VIII, who had succeeded their father George V. Created Duke of York in 1920, he married in 1923 Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (1900–2002), and their children are Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret. During World War II, he visited the Normandy and Italian battlefields.
