Georgia, Strait of

Strait in British Columbia, Canada, separating Vancouver Island from the mainland; length about 240 km/150 mi. It is about 80 km/50 mi broad at its widest part, but narrows considerably towards the north, where it merges into Johnstone Strait and Queen Charlotte Strait. It meets the Pacific Ocean at Juan De Fuca Strait in the south.
