Georgina

Town in York Regional Municipality, south Ontario, Canada; population (1991) 29,700. It is situated on the south side of Lake Simcoe, 60 km/37 mi north of Toronto. An agricultural and resort community, now experiencing rapid residential growth, it has a number of waterfront villages. Sutton (or Sutton West), on the Black River, is an 1820s mill town noted for its 1870s St George's Church, the burial site of writers Stephen Leacock and Mazo de la Roche.

Uncle Andrew lived in Carlisle, and Aunt Georgina--she was Miss Georgina Matheson then--lived away up west, so he couldn't get to see her very often.
