Geraldton

Town in Western Australia, 424 km/263 mi north of Perth; population (2001) 25,400. The town, which has a good harbour, is situated on Campion Bay. It is the main administration centre for the mid-west region of Western Australia. It is also a large port for fishing fleets (especially crayfish), and it exports grain and mineral sands. Other local industries include the cultivation of vegetables and tomatoes, and sheep and wheat farming.
