Geszty, Sylvia (1934- )

Hungarian soprano. She made her debut at Budapest in 1959, and was Amor at the Berlin Staatsoper in 1961. She sang the Queen of the Night at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, in 1966, and repeated the role at Salzburg in 1967. After joining the Hamburg Opera she sang Zerbinetta at Glyndebourne in 1971, and was heard as Sophie at Buenos Aires and Los Angeles. Her other roles included Alcina, Constanze, and Olympia. She sang Rosina in Haydn's La Vera Costanza at the Schönbrunn, in Vienna, in 1984.
