Bennet

Bright comet, discovered by South African astronomer J C Bennett in 1969, which became a spectacular sight in the spring of 1970. It passed within 81 million km/50 million mi of the Sun on 20 March and within 104 million km/65 million mi of Earth six days later. At its brightest it reached magnitude zero and had a tail spanning 10°.
