| Geyl was educated at Leiden University. He was professor of Dutch studies at London University, 1919–24, and of Dutch history, 1924–36; and professor of modern history at Utrecht, 1936–58. His publications include: The Netherlands Divided 1936; Napoleon: For and Against 1949; and Encounters in History 1962. |
