Gibbard, Allan (Fletcher) (1942- )

US philosopher, who specialized in metaphysics, ethics, and social choice theory. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island After gaining his PhD from Harvard University in 1971, he taught at the University of Chicago (1969-77) and, from 1977, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
