Gilmore, Gail (1950– )

US mezzo-soprano. She sang in Germany from 1975, then in Vienna and Venice, appearing as Kundry in Wagner's Parsifal in 1983. Her New York City Opera debut was in 1981, and she sang at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1986, again as Kundry. She performed at the Verona Arena 1983–86, as Carmen and Ulrica, and sang Wagner's Venus at Lisbon in 1993. Her other roles include Cassandre, Dalila, and Orpheus.
