Ginsburg, Charles P (1920-1992)

US electrical engineer and inventor. In the early 1950s, as a researcher for the Ampex Corporation, he led the team that invented the modern videotape recorder, first used by a television network in 1956. He was vice-president for advance development at Ampex from 1975 until his retirement in 1986. He worked for a radio station after graduating from San Jose State University in 1948.
