Girl GuidesFemale equivalent of the Scout organization, founded in 1910 in the UK by Robert Baden-Powell and his sister Agnes. There are three branches: Brownie Guides (age 7–11); Guides (10–16); Ranger Guides (14–20); they are led by Guiders (adult leaders). The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (as they are known in the USA) has some 9 million members (1998). How to thank TFD for its existence? | The Federation of German Scout Organizations and the Union of German Girl Guide Associations have issued a resolution opposing the BSA's policy of discriminating against gay youth and adults and noting that such policies violate the constitutions of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. but we did, unwittingly, courtesy of Girl Guides of Canada. More than 25 countries were represented Saturday at the Arroyo Vista Community Center as part of international Think Day, an annual event for Girl Scouts and Girl Guides. |
