Glace Bay

Town and port on Cape Breton Island, in east Nova Scotia, Canada; population (1991) 19,500. It was once the centre of a coalmining area, but fishing and fish processing are now more important. The Italian electrical engineer Guglielmo Marconi sent a transatlantic wireless message from here in 1902.
