| Despite the lip service glam rock paid to style-as-substance with its silver lame space suits and sexual ambiguity, there's no denying that its icons communicated something essential; outsider adolescents worshiped classic Bowie with good reason. Though lumped into the '70s glam rock pantheon, Roxy Music's singularly weird aesthetic, and the flat, imperfect warble of dapper singer Bryan Ferry, resist easy classification. This duo has run the gamut of glam rock, post-punk, electronica, and pop and is currently on some serious next-level, symphonic, music-hall style that is truly bizarre. |
