Glauber's salt

Crystalline sodium sulphate decahydrate Na2SO4.10H2O, produced by the action of sulphuric acid on common salt. It melts at 31°C/87.8°F; the latent heat stored as it solidifies makes it a convenient thermal energy store. It is used in medicine as a laxative.
