Glen Cove

Town on the North Shore of Long Island, Nassau County, southeast New York; population (1990) 24,100. It is located to the east of the entrance to Hempstead Harbor, and 35 km/22 mi east-northeast of New York City. Although chiefly residential, it has some light industry, including the manufacture of office supplies, hardware, and clothing. It is home to the Webb Institute of Naval Architecture, Garvies Point Preserve, and Welwyn Preserve.
