Town in Essex County, north New Jersey; population (1990) 7,100. It is located 6 km/4 mi northwest of Newark. It is an affluent commuter suburb with some light industry.

Not long ago author Bernard Lefkowitz painted a chilling picture of perverse entitlement in ``Our Guys, The Glen Ridge Rape and the Secret Life of the Perfect Suburb.
At the time, I was also reading Our Guys by Bernard Lefkowitz, his disturbing account of the 1989 rape of a retarded girl in Glen Ridge, New Jersey.
