Glendora

Town in Los Angeles County, southwest California; population (1990) 47,800. It is situated at the south base of the San Gabriel Mountains, 40 km/25 mi east-northeast of Los Angeles, of which it is a commuter suburb. Founded in 1887, it was in the early 20th century an important citrus centre, known for its orange and lemon groves. Following World War II, a housing boom largely displaced the growers. Citrus College (1915) is in the town, which is also home to some light manufacturers.
