Globokar, Vinko (1934- )| Yugoslav composer and trombonist. His avant-garde virtuosity encouraged Karlheinz Stockhausen, Mauricio Kagel, and Luciano Berio to write works for him. |
| He studied in Ljubljana and at the Paris Conservatory, France, and later with René Leibowitz and Berio. In 1968 he was appointed professor of trombone at the Cologne Musikhochschule, Germany. With Heinz Holliger he gave the UK first performance of Toru Takemitsu's Gemeaux at Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1989. He was the featured composer at Dartington, England, in 1992. |
