globular cluster

Spherical or near-spherical star cluster containing from approximately 10,000 stars to many millions. About 200 known globular clusters are distributed in a spherical halo around our Galaxy. They consist of old stars, formed early in the Galaxy's history. Globular clusters are also found around other galaxies.

The two greatest globular clusters lie in the southern hemisphere, Omega Centauri and 47 Tucana.
They provide excellent opportunities for astronomers to study the elusive globular clusters lurking within.
Papers are in sections on hot subdwarfs in galaxies and globular clusters, atmospheres and evolution, binaries, and pulsating sdB/O stars.
