It is not known, however, whether the glomerulus is affected by long-term low-level environmental exposure. Each nephron consists of a ball formed of small blood capillaries, called a glomerulus, and a small tube called a renal tubule. Because uric acid is filtered at the glomerulus, levels in serum are also influenced by renal function. |
