Steinem, Gloria (1934– )

US journalist and liberal feminist. She emerged as a leading figure in the US women's movement in the late 1960s. She was also involved in radical protest campaigns against racism and the Vietnam War. She cofounded the Women's Action Alliance in 1970 and Ms magazine. In 1983 a collection of her articles was published as Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions.
