Gold Beach

Beach in Normandy on the right flank of the British sector in the D-Day landings, centred on the village of Arromanche.

The British 50th (Northumberland) Division made the first landing and by the end of the day some 25,000 men had been put ashore with their tanks and vehicles, contact had been made with the Canadians on the left flank, and troops had advanced 14.5 km/9 mi to the west toward US troops on Omaha beach.

Hart is the 4-H agent/staff chairman for the Curry County/OSU Extension Service in Gold Beach, Oregon, and has directed numerous county and regional 4-H resident and day camps.
The eighteen Oregon towns covered at length are Ashland, Astoria, Baker City, Bandon, Bend, Brookings, Cannon Beach, Florence, Gold Beach, Grants Pass, Hood River, Jacksonville, Joseph, Lincoln City, McMinnville, Newport, Seaside, and Sisters.
Chad Schlottmann and Michael Olson, both 18, of Gold Beach High School in Oregon, will go to the International Youth Science Exhibition in Santiago, Chile, in July.
