Golden Triangle

Most notably, a designation for the heart of the city centre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This tract of land, lying between the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers where they join to form the Ohio River, had become an agglomeration of run-down factories, office buildings, and slums, but was revitalized by urban renewal from the 1950s onwards. It is now a bustling district of corporate offices, shops, and entertainment facilities; notable features are the Gateway Centre, Point State Park, and a civic centre. The term ‘Golden Triangle’ also refers to a largely residential section of San Diego, California, 18 km/11 mi north-northwest of the city centre.
