Goldsmith, Jerry (Jerrald) (1930–2004)

US composer of film music. His prolific output includes Planet of the Apes (1968), The Wind and the Lion (1975), The Omen (1976; Academy Award), The Boys from Brazil (1978), Star Trek (1979), Poltergeist (1982), LA Confidential (1997), and Mulan (1998).

He originally worked in radio and television and scored major series, for example The Twilight Zone (1959). During his lifetime he received 17 Academy Award nominations, though he won only once.
