Gomez, Jill (1942– )

British soprano. She studied in London, sang Mélisande at Glyndebourne in 1969, and returned as Calisto and Anne Trulove. She created Flora in The Knot Garden at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, in 1970, and her other London roles have been Tippett's Jenifer, Tytania, and Ilia. With the Scottish Opera she has been heard as Pamina, Fiordiligi, and Henze's Elizabeth Zimmer. She is often heard in concert, and at Lausanne in 1985 sang in Handel's Belshazzar. She premiered Cantiga by David Matthews in 1988.
