Gondokoro

Town in the Bahr El-Jebel state of southern Sudan, on the east bank of the Upper Nile. Situated almost at the end of the navigable course of the River Nile, it was important as an ivory and slave trading station. The town was capital of the former province of Equatoria.

It was named Ismailia by the English explorer Samuel Baker.
