kohlrabi

Variety of kale, which is itself a variety of cabbage; it is used for food and resembles a turnip. The leaves of kohlrabi shoot from a round swelling on the main stem. (Brassica oleracea caulorapa or B. oleracea gongylodes, family Cruciferae.)
