SamaritanMembers or descendants of the colonists forced to settle in Samaria (now northern Israel) by the Assyrians after their occupation of the ancient kingdom of Israel 722 BC. Samaritans adopted a form of Judaism, but adopted only the Pentateuch, the five books of Moses of the Old Testament, and regarded their temple on Mount Gerizim as the true sanctuary. They remained a conservative, separate people and declined under Muslim rule, with only a few hundred, in a small community at Nablus, surviving today. How to thank TFD for its existence?
